EVM manufactured and installed a unique visual experience to celebrate the launch of The Macallan Reach, a very rare single malt whisky and a unique expression of the historic and world famous Macallan whisky brand distilled in Speyside, Scotland.
The Reach is an 81-year-old single malt crafted from a single sherry-seasoned oak cask in 1940 then laid down for 81 years until it was bottled in 2021.
The specialist fitout was carried out by EVM craftsmen at the award-winning Macallan Distillery in Speyside, and consisted of bespoke joinery and graphic elements which told the story of The Reach using sustainable direct-to-substrate printed graphics, lasered text, precision engineered joinery componentry, organic plantations, dramatic LED lighting and an immersive audio-visual presentation.
The designs for the work were created by Edinburgh design group, Contagious. EVM worked closely with the design team to produce detailed CAD drawings and models for the construction, advising and guiding the team on how to best approach the complex joinery elements in the most efficient way possible.
In 2022, a single bottle of this rare and extraordinary expression of The Macallan was auctioned at Sotheby’s in 2022 for £240,000, thus making The Reach the world’s oldest, and most expensive whisky at that time.
