V&A Dundee

Client : V&A Dundee
Designers : Why Not Associates
Location : Dundee
Duration : 6 months

EVM collaborated with the V&A London and its creative partners to develop and manufacture the interpretative panels and bespoke labels for artefacts, now installed in the Scottish Design Galleries at the new V&A Dundee.

The project lasted for 6 months and EVM carried out painstaking testing and prototyping on behalf of the V&A and their design team. EVM’s used direct to substrate printing onto a wide variety of substrates, including concrete, glass and solid Oak, before final manufacturing and production began. Final installation of the panels was carried out by EVM in the Summer of 2018.

EVM is proud and delighted to have been given the opportunity to work on this important and iconic building project. V&A Dundee is Scotland’s first design museum and an international centre for design in Scotland. It opened its doors in September 2018 at a cost of £80 million and is housed in a world-class building at the heart of Dundee’s Waterfront designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.

The Scottish Design Galleries explore Scotland’s design landscape, historically and today and include 300 exhibits ranging from architecture to fashion, healthcare to furniture, and engineering to video game design.
