The Athlete’s Village Story

Client : City Legacy Homes Consortium
Location : The Lighthouse, Glasgow
Duration : 12 weeks

EVM was commissioned by the City Legacy Homes Consortium to create and install an exhibition to tell the story of the remarkable transformation of the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athlete’s Village into an innovative residential development project of 1,400 new homes which the Consortium built in the East End of Glasgow.

The exhibition was staged at The Lighthouse, Scotland’s national centre for design and architecture in the centre of Glasgow.

EVM used large format graphics and archive films to tell the story of how the Athlete’s Village was conceived and developed and how after the 2014 Games it was then dramatically transformed into the most environmentally friendly residential development ever to be built in the UK.

A large model of the entire development was also a feature of the exhibition, as well as a scale model of one of the new homes, giving visitors an inside view of the innovative new building methodologies that City Legacy Homes incorporated during the construction phase of the project.

This multi-award winning residential development stands as one of the most significant legacies of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in what is today, a thriving and vibrant new community in a once neglected part of Glasgow’s East End. EVM is very proud to be associated with this important milestone in Glasgow’s on-going development and regeneration.
